Sue Sharp : Board Trustee

After graduating from the University of Glasgow Sue moved to London in 1985 to join the civil service and worked for almost two decades at the Department for Transport where she mainly specialised in transport and accessibility policy at both national and international level.

In 2006 moved to the charity sector, first to Guide Dogs as Head of Policy and Campaigns before, in 2012, joining the Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC), a charity supporting vision impaired children, young people and their families. Sue retired as the RSBC’s CEO in October 2023.

Since 2017 Sue has been a member of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC), the UK Government’s independent advisory committee, and has served as Deputy Chair since October 2024. Sue is also a member of the Independent Gatwick Advisory Panel (IGAP) and National Rail’s Bult Environment Access Panel (BEAP).

Sue has particular interest in the accessibility of the built environment, including provision for disabled motorists, and has an MSc in Inclusive Environments from the University of Reading.
