At DriveAbility Scotland, we are proud to celebrate the people who make our mission possible. This month, we want to shine a spotlight on two remarkable members of our team: Fiona and Alex. Their passion, determination, and commitment to supporting disabled drivers have transformed our outreach services in the North of Scotland.

Building Success in Aberdeen

From the very beginning, Fiona and Alex threw themselves into developing our outreach service in Aberdeen. They worked tirelessly to build meaningful partnerships with local healthcare professionals, police safety teams, schools, and stroke and spinal services. Their energy and empathy not only helped establish trust within the community but also turned our Aberdeen outreach into a thriving and sustainable service.

Expanding to Inverness

Not content to rest on their achievements, Fiona and Alex took on an entirely new challenge in October 2024: bringing our driving assessments to Inverness. By January 2025, they had already identified a suitable location, mapped out an assessment route, and forged strong connections with local organisations. Their groundwork has laid the foundation for a new service in the Highlands, ensuring more people have access to the support they need to drive safely and independently.

Achievements Worth Celebrating

While spearheading these initiatives, Fiona and Alex also managed to conduct nearly 70 driving assessments in under a year despite only being available one day per week. Alongside this, they have continued their professional development, attending courses to further enhance their knowledge and skills.

An Inspiration to Us All

Fiona and Alex embody the values of DriveAbility Scotland. Their dedication to empowering disabled drivers and promoting road safety is truly inspiring. By going the extra mile both literally and figuratively they have brought independence, confidence, and peace of mind to so many individuals and families.

We are incredibly proud of everything Fiona and Alex have achieved. Their contribution is a vital part of the DriveAbility Scotland story, and we look forward to seeing how their work continues to grow and make a difference across Scotland.
