Stephen Somers : Driving Advisor/Approved Driving Instructor

Stephen became an Approved Driving Instructor after making a career change in 2007. When he joined DriveAbility Scotland in 2022, he already owned a successful driving school but was ready for a new challenge, taking on the role of ADI with the team.

He provides familiarisation tuition to full licence holders using adaptations and offers his experience and expertise to learner drivers who require specialist tuition with hand control adaptations.

Always eager to take on something new, Stephen also works as a Driving Advisor, carrying out assessments for the DVLA on clients’ fitness to drive.

Outside of work, Stephen values a healthy work/life balance. He enjoys spending time with his wife and family and is a keen follower of his favourite sports, Rugby and Golf.
